Recent Work

Since 2009, I have been working with Advanced Sound & Communication, a division of the 35 year old, privately owned MI retailer in Kansas City, Big Dudes Music.  This company is a blast to work for, because we are diverse, and we never do cookie-cutter jobs.  Everyday is different.  I perform sales, design, fabrication, installation, programming, and tech support services.  Some of our work:

When not hard at work with AS&C, I am providing freelance live sound services to local bands and sound companies, and supporting my band, Project Damage Control. PDC is our stab at ministry through Christian rock music.  We have incorporated members of Petra and Classic Petra, as well as some modern Italian guitar and keyboard progressive rock heros.  We have released two albums, and sold nearly 55k units with the aid of international distribution and grass roots gorilla marketing.  Visit our site to listen to our music, read the story behind PDC, and read the lyrics.  http://www.projectdamagecontrol.com/

Prior to and during my time with AS&C, I worked for my friend and former boss and his partners, at Primus Audio Pleasure.  Primus was the last established audiophile shop in Kansas City.  The economy has killed the audiophile market in KC.  Initially, I was brought in for weekend sales, installation and tech support.  Eventually I was taking on administration duties.  While there, I designed and built the listening room acoustics at the new facilities on May Street, and began growing the acoustical consultation and design side of the business.  It is too bad that these types of shops will be a thing of the past.

In 2005, I began transitioning from touring live sound to working for mega-churches.  In 2006, I relocated the family to Johnson County, Kansas, to work for The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, Leawood, KS, as Saving Grace Production's head Audio Engineer.  There I mixed all services, recorded and edited content for replication and radio broadcasts.  Part of my ministry was assisting other churches from other markets, with audio and video system consultation and tech support services.  I organized and facilitated local workshops, in conjunction with regional manufacturers reps, to build community and the local tech economy.

In 2006, I began working for an additional church, providing audio production services for First Family Church.  I produced audio content for three 30 minute, weekly, television shows, one daily and one weekly radio programs.  My radio programs soon became the calling card to the KC market, leading to record numbers of new visitors.

From the end of 1999 to the end of 2002, I was the band/FOH engineer for Junior Brown (Curb Records) http://www.juniorbrown.com/.  The gig with Junior fell in my lap, as a result of Junior contacting a friend, Steve Ripley of The Tractors (Arista Nashville, Rocking Boy).  I was the Church Studio (Tulsa, OK) tech and band/FOH engineer for Steve Ripley and The Tractors from 1996 until 2006.  Mixing for The Tractors was the pinnacle of my career on the road, because it was a large band, with lots of surprises, and lots of true talent.

While touring, I recognized the need for a mobile professional recording system, based around the defacto studio standard ProTools HD digital audio workstation.  I designed and built a system, and began offering the system for hire, providing services to Oral Roberts Television Ministries, Leon Russell, Hnason, Tobey Keith, The Tractors, Junior Brown, and many others.  To learn more about ProTools, visit the Avid website: http://www.avid.com/US/products/family/Pro-Tools
